Because I coloured this before I coloured Chapter 1 (and because I forgot to backup the colour palette when upgrading my PC…) some of the colours are different than the ones I’m using now. The overlay made it difficult to pick out what colours they were supposed to be. I actually struggled a lot picking the colours, going back in forth… Do I want his eyes more baby blue or more violet? Would I prefer Thanatos and Remi to have the same hair color or slightly different? Do I want pinker/purpler shadows? Should the base skin be more yellow…? Even now, I can’t guarantee I won’t change it again.

Without thinking, I drew him in human form, but it would have made more sense if he was in vampire form while unconscious and then switched to the human glamour as he sat up. Let’s just say he’s that good at controlling it and only the distraction of delicious, red, juicy blood can break it.

This scene was very difficult for me to draw. I wanted to include something like this early on to give people an idea of what they were in for. I didn’t really want people to get invested, only to get disappointed when it suddenly went into darker waters. Putting aside the fact that it’s emotionally taxing to draw stuff like this, on a more practical level, it’s a bit of a struggle to figure out how to do scenes like this without it seeming gratuitous or exploitative. If I could redo the scene, I’d probably leave out the middle panel. Otherwise, hopefully I’ve done an okay job with it.

The original version was animated, but I have long since forgotten how to do it and since most of the places I post to only allow for static imagery it was not a high priority to go look it up once more. Plus, looking at it now, it looks like the layers got merged. Whoops. Since this is all full-colored now, there won’t be any other comparison pics, but here’s the old animated version so that it isn’t lost to the winds.

The official end of Chapter 1 (all parts)! I had Chapter 2.1 mostly done but predictably (writing this note after the fact) I blew through the “buffer” well before I finished Chapter 2.2.
(Update) Since I originally wrote this comment, I had to rebuild my website from scratch. On top of that, I ran into an issue where one of the plugins was converting all my images to .jpg and I on;t noticed it now. So basically I had to go back and redo a good chunk of the work I already did. Suffice to say, I am even more behind now lol
