That first panel of Remiel is probably the closest I’ve managed to get to what he looks like inside of my head. He (and a few other male characters, really…) should be more of the “ikemen” archetype, but since the dawn of time I have only ever been able to draw femboys. Enjoy it, it’s probably the last time I’ll be able to manage it.

I had totally forgotten I had drawn an aquarium until I was revising previous art… After which, it felt like it would make an interesting backdrop for their chat. It seemed like a It took me an entire day just to draw the aquarium… u.u I don’t have the one I used as the original reference anymore, and it was also sized for a betta fish rather than an angelfish, so please forgive me if it’s the wrong size for that kind of fish.

Remi’s expressions in this panel kill me (in a good way). I don’t usually draw characters too expressively… I just like drawing pretty things. A fundamental problem I have when drawing is that A) I draw things based on what I feel looks good in the moment, without any real regards to internal consistency or logic and B) I can never make up my mind on what I like best and what I like best changes on any given day. Because of this, there’s a lot of differences in the art – Different eye shapes, different colours, different accents, effects, details, overlays, textures, etc. Even what kind of hair highlights I want to use is constantly changing… To those who are bothered by inconsistent art, I apologize. I probably won’t change, though.

I enjoyed drawing this page a lot. Thana has the entirety of Remi’s wardrobe at his disposal, but he went with this because deep in his heart he’s jut that extra. There were originally supposed to be white tights, but my friend suggested otherwise, and so now we have bare thighs. Because I miss drawing vampire Thanatos, I did two full pinups, one with each color scheme. I forgot to draw his scar (I do that a lot…), but I fixed it for the page.

Why would Remi have such an outfit in his closet anyway, I wonder…?

Because it’s a panel that takes up half the page, even though it’s merely interior scene setting I felt the need to put extra effort into it. Plus, it shows of Jocelyn’s personality. That being said, it took over a day to draw that single panel alone, and I suffered greatly. Even worse, the next panel while much more simple still took me ages to get right, because as previously mentioned I struggle with scale. If you want to know a secret, I put Jocelyn’s room together in The Sims 4 and used that as my reference.

I had a hard time deciding between which colors to go. I think the blue-green one looks more harmonic, but I really liked the depth the purple tint one added so I ended up going with that instead. In the end, I don’t think there’s a right answer so I’ll never be sure in my decision…

Drawing backgrounds always leaves me with this sense of bewilderment at how I can interact with objects every day and not understand their scale or how the even the simplest pieces like wood joints connect together. I put a lot of effort into the background in the first panel, and it mostly ended up covered up by the chapter title and number, go figure. Plus, the direction of the light on this page keeps changing, so let’s just say it’s causes by a passing cloud.

I also regret Remi’s hand in that first panel, since looks like he only had 3 fingers. The other one is supposed to be behind the mug, but when you add the gap between the ring and middle finger it just looks his middle finger was cut off lol

This is where I ran out of my buffer, on the original website. This page went unfinished for so long, I really should have finished Chapter 2 before going back to recolor Chapter 1.

I wish I had drawn the background without characters so I could reuse it. I actually lost the reference picture, so if it changes a bit in the future, then that’s why.
